Gosling Czubak designed the widening of Three Mile Road, an important thoroughfare carrying about 25,000 vehicles daily on a two-lane road through several major intersections in Grand Traverse County. The project was complicated by a narrow right-of-way, a trout stream that bordered one side of the right-of-way, a bridge to convey the confluence of two streams beneath the road, existing utilities, a railroad crossing and crossing of a well-used bicycle and pedestrian path. The improvements included widening to five lanes, intersection improvements, creation of a median and use of storm water best management practices.
