Haring Township Wastewater Treatment Plant Groundbreaking

Haring Township officials celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony for a new wastewater treatment plant on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the end of Casa Road in Haring Township.  The public was invited to attend this exciting event for the community.

The nearly $4M new wastewater treatment plant has been designed by Gosling Czubak Engineering Sciences, Inc. of Traverse City.  According to Gosling Czubak president Doug Coates, the design of the plant is modular for possible future expansion and includes more advanced and efficient technologies.

The new plant will be located at the southeast corner of Boon Road and US 131 in Haring Township.  Site work for the project will begin in June and the plant is expected to be operational in Summer 2015.

Construction of the sanitary sewer and water main portion of the project will be completed by Sterling Excavation.  Grand Traverse Construction will be completing construction of the wastewater treatment plant.

The project is being funded in part by a loan and a $899,000 grant from USDA Rural Development.
