New Boating Access Site at Sayler Park
Acme Township celebrated the completion of its new boating access site (BAS) with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, May 15, 2017. Located at 22-acre family-friendly Sayler Park, the site serves boats up to 22' in length.
Gosling Czubak was retained to perform updated conceptual design from a dated 2008 plan, assist in securing additional Waterways BAS funds, and then engineer the new BAS to serve boats with a single, reinforced and widened ramp. ADA-compliant restrooms were already in place to serve a new boat access site, and additional ADA parking and accessible walkway were designed. Additionally, the township acquired adjacent land remove on-road car-trailer parking and develop a 25 car-trailer lot on Yuba Park Road.
Conceptual design and preliminary engineering plans and opinion of costs were prepared which help to secure tow MDNR Waterways Grant-in-Aid grants as well as other grant support from the Great Lakes Fisheries Trust Fund, which when leveraged with Township matching funds, totaled over $380,000. Construction was completed on this project in September 2016, in time for the fall angling season.
