ADA Boardwalk Trail Complete at Arcadia Dunes

Work was recently completed on a new universally accessible segment of trail at Arcadia Dunes, beginning at the Baldy Trailhead and linking up to the 300' bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.

Work began in 2014 by assisting the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy (GTRLC) to advance trail development at a series of key land preserves. The focus of the planning and preliminary design development was to create accessible trail links from the trailhead to the top of the 300' bluff. Challenges included steep slopes, sensitive ecological areas, difficult construction access, poor soil conditions. Design elements included trail head and amenity design, extensive boardwalk and ADA crushed stone trail areas and detailed opinion probable cost development.

Gosling Czubak staff engaged with 8-10 key staff from the GTRLC and facilitated numerous review and development sessions. Field investigations, pre-staking of proposed alignments, topographic survey, and geotechnical investigation services were also integrated in each project scope. The universally-accessible trail was completed in May 2017.
