East Bay Park beach in Traverse City was experiencing closures resulting from E. Coli contamination carried by stormwater sources. The stormwater discharges near the beach also included sediment and nutrients. Gosling Czubak researched, evaluated, and tested alternative stormwater treatment technologies that could reduce or eliminate beach closures. The investigation included pilot testing of Media Filtering; Antimicrobial Contact Removal; and Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection. The pilot testing analyzed each treatment technology for its applicability at East Bay Park.
